General Anesthesia & Hospital Dentistry
Anchor Point, serving Homer and Kenai Peninsula, Alaska
Have you been avoiding routine or urgent dental care due to dental anxiety? Essential dental procedures can dramatically improve your lifestyle and your looks, not to mention your overall health. Jeff Bartley, DDS offers several dental tranquilization options carefully tailored to each patient’s needs, including oral tranquilizers and nitrous oxide gas. If you suffer from dental anxiety, or a medical condition that make a dental anesthetic necessary, stop procrastinating! We can help.
Anesthesia is also crucial for many dental procedures. Whether it’s a simple dose of oral anesthetic to numb a specific area, or general anesthesia for a more complex procedure, Dr. Bartley will guide you through the process before administering any sedation.
After a thorough medical examination and a discussion of the procedure Dr. Bartley recommends, you will decide whether sedation is necessary and, if so, which form of sedation is best for you and the chosen procedure.
General AnesthesiaFor complex dental operations, Dr Bartley may recommend a general anesthetic administered intravenously. General anesthetic procedures take place in the hospital to ensure emergency facilities are available if they should be needed.
Interestingly, general anesthesia is not really a form of sedation dentistry but actually a form of sleep dentistry. In sedation dentistry, you’re not asleep but will generally not remember anything about the procedure. With sleep dentistry, you are actually fully asleep.
